In August of 2016, Makayla was told that she would never dance again from a life changing accident and injuries. She was determined to dance again, and the Melt Method, bodyART and pilates made that possible. At the end of 2017, she completed her 600-hour comprehensive pilates certification and level 1 bodyART certification in New York City, and in 2019, she completed my Melt Method Hand and Foot instructor training in New York City. She is a professional dancer, ballroom dance instructor, and utilizes fitness as injury-prevention and rehabilitation. Her purpose is to bring joy and healing, to help others live their most authentic and vibrant life through ballroom dance instruction, the Melt Method, and functional fitness.
After graduating with a BFA in Musical Theater from Belmont University, she has enjoyed performing in the premiere Grand Ole Opry cast of How the Grinch Stole Christmas the Musicalas Punky/Reno, regional equity houses around the country, and performing on Disney Cruise lines as the female swing! Also, Makayla toured with the National Tour of A Chorus Line, working with Baayork Lee, performing the roles of Vicki, Cassie, and Val.
Since the accident, Makayla has made a full recovery and currently teaches and competes in ballroom dance, teaches Melt Method to private clients and partners for group classes and workshops, and has choreographed Chicago for the Millennial Theater Company (Winning "Best Choreographer" for Chicago from BroadwayWorld.com), and was a performer, associate choreographer, and dance captain for Shrek the Musical at the Beck Center for the Arts. She is here to help you find joy and reach your goals, pain-free!
