Elaine Dowling is a classically trained ballet dancer, teacher, and choreographer working throughout Northeast Ohio. She studied ballet with renowned Cleveland teachers Marguerite Duncan and Nancy Arcury. Elaine was a principal dancer with North Coast Ballet Theatre, and continues to train with Sonja Kraljevic. She has also studied modern dance with Joan Meggitt, Megan Pitcher, Megan Johnson, and Kelli Sanford. Elaine frequently performs at Case Western Reserve University, where she has worked with international choreographers and danced the works of the legendary dancer and choreographer Martha Graham. She has also performed with Coventry Dance Company and RED.
Since 1998 Elaine has taught all levels of ballet and pointe at dance studios throughout Northeast Ohio, and has taught in the dance departments of Case Western Reserve University and Kent State University. She has experience choreographing for both professional and student ballet dancers, and her work has appeared in showcases and festivals. Elaine has also choreographed musicals for TrueNorth Cultural Arts Center, Huntington Theatre, and Chagrin Falls Academy for the Performing Arts.
A native Clevelander, Elaine holds a BA in communications from Case Western Reserve University. She has worked as both a broadcast and print journalist, and is also an artist. Her paintings are available at galleries throughout Cleveland, with a portion of sales donated to cancer research.
Elaine is happy to be part of The Movement Factory and promote its philosophy that everyone should keep moving, dancing, and learning. Growing up in Lakewood, she is also glad that one of its historic manufacturing facilities, the Lake Erie Screw Building, is housing this fitness and dance venture.
