Shari is a personal trainer, Pilates instructor and educator with more than 2 decades of experience in dance and athletics. A native of Northeast Ohio, Shari began ballet training as a child and continued through high school. She took her first Pilates class more than 15 years ago and was instantly hooked, eventually becoming an instructor and studying with Pilates legend Elizabeth Larkham. Shari's others passions include tennis, and volunteering at the Cleveland Animal Protective League.

During her former career as a journalist, Shari continued teaching group exercise classes in the Cleveland and Columbus areas -- from low impact aerobics to step to Spinning -- and then became certified as a personal trainer. One session at a friend's Pilates studio was enough to not only hook Shari on Pilates forever, but to convince her that this was the direction in which she wanted her fitness career to go. Shari has studied Pilates in Cleveland, Dallas, and San Francisco with such luminaries as Elizabeth Larkham and Moira Stott, and has more than 15 years' experience teaching mat classes with and without props, Reformer, Cadillac/trapeze table, and the Pilates chair.

Shari currently teaches classes at Lorain Community College in health, first aid, and nutrition/weight management. She also frequently teaches credit PE classes in Spinning, Pilates, and Advanced Pilates. Shari's fitness philosophy is that anyone can be active -- absolutely everyone. Exercise should be enjoyable and give one a sense of accomplishment. These are attributes Shari has found especially true of Pilates practice. Pilates is not necessarily about inches lost or physical strength, but about appreciating the body you have and the amazing things it can do for you if given the chance. The changes to her clients -- both physical and psychological -- that have come from consistent practice, whether spinning or Pilates, are profound and motivating. Shari plays tennis on three US Tennis Association teams.
